30 Day Challenge

Johns 30 day challenge:
No alcohol and No soda for 30 days
Tomorrow he begins his second week! The first week was not easy for him. He is having the hardest time without soda. Having a beer after work is hard for him too because it became a routine for him. I am very proud that 1. He even agreed to it and 2. That he made it through the first week! It should get easier for him from here on out.

John Strassner decided to join him on the 30 day challenge. Its funny to see how the beers have been replaced with Arizona Green Teas.

Andy (another friend of ours and one that they work) also decided to join in!

Good Job boys! Keep it up!

What could it be?

Yesterday i called Rileys doctors office with what i thought would be a simple answer, simple test with a simple solution.

When Riley wakes up in the morning or from naps (mainly naps is when i notice) she shakes. Nothing crazy, nothing violent just shakes a little. The best way i could desribe it would be as if she was really hungry and was shakey. She has been doing this for a couple of weeks now, so i decided to call and just ask about it.

They suggested that she brought in immediately to see the doctor. 101 questions later and evaluating her walk and talk, still no answer. The doctor was less considered after seeing her in person but still considered enough to schedule Riley an appointment with the neurologist. Seizures? Low blood pressure? Or just the way she wakes up? ....or could it be something else?

Looking at Rileys background they are considered that it might be siezure, but since nothing is 100% and can be completely labeled as one thing, she with have to go through testing with the neurologist, an EEG and possibly a sleep study.

Its hard not to worry and think the worse, but i am hoping its just a thing she does and she nothing to worry about.

Until then i am keeping a log of when it happens as well as activities done before hand, like eating and what she wait and how long before her nap she ate, how long her nap was and did i wake her up or did she wake up on her own.

Hopefully someone will be able to come up with an answer for me...and hopefully its one that i wanna hear

Hard to Swallow

Its always extremely hard when someone close to you dies. I dont know what is worse, the unexpected death or watching and knowing that the person infront of you will not be around much longer. It hurts. A lot.
Today i found out that a truely amazing man in my life is in heart failure. If they can not remove the fluid from around his heart it is only a matter of time before he is gone. A truely amazing man. It tears me apart even thinking about not having him around.
I held back my tears and tried to be strong when the news was delivered. I wasnt expecting it. He hasnt said a word about it. I want to believe in my heart that he can over come this and will be around longer (his is 91 now). He is a strong man. With one eye and half a jaw bone he has overcome cancer in his past. Im really hoping this wont stop him.

We went out to dinner the other night and Riley who is absolutely in love with him was being her usual crazy, flirty loving self, he laughed and said "boy, i really wish im around to see her when shes 10" that alone broke my heart...and now this. Its like someone is tearing it out of my chest.

I dont want to lose him.

Be strong Pepaw.

Also during this conversation johns grandmother was explaining to me that she is 88% blind now, and that the medication she is on (shots in her eyes) only have a 2% chance of working (so she stopped doing them, they are too painful for her). So its only a matter of time till she cant see anything at all (it will as if she is staring into a white light)
She got teary eyed and said "the only thing i could think of is how im not going to be able to watch Riley grow"

Its been a bad news day.
My heart is broken.

Making Some Changes?

John and i are making some changes in life, per usual. We cant ever sit still, and since we arent happy with the life style we currently have room for improvement is always welcome.

No details will be given till everything is final but they may OR may NOT include: moving, jobs, school, opporunties, success, and happiness.

Any decission we make will be well thought out and only made to better ourselves. I refuse to do any of the above (moving especially) if it is not for a positive change... I am not moving from one house in the ghetto (or semi ghetto) to another house in the same hood.

Upgrades only. Some of the decissions may seem as though we are taking a step backwards but they will be followed by three steps forward.

And the grades are in!

I am not completely satisfied in my grades, i busted my butt off trying to get straight A's, a difficult teacher made this nearly impossible (you can ask the entire class)
Towards the end i was struggling to continue to listen to her lectures, and yes i could have sucked it up and just studied even harder than i was. I was still trying to enjoy my life and every second i could with my little love bug (which i will take an F anyday in order to play with my little girl).
Luckily i didnt fail as i had thought i was going to, and the grade i have still has a chance to go up (i had to resubmit an item that she could not originally get the file to open)

Intro to business: C <---- hey its not an F :/
Sociology: A
English: A
American History I: A

So close! It killllls me to see this!

GPA 3.5

Not bad for my first semester back in school in 5 years, and not bad for that first semester back being an excellerated semester.

Better luck next time :/

Accomplished

I finally did it!
After 6 years of putting it off and not being in school, i went back. I just finished my first semester of college and i am 1/4 of the way done with the first step and the first degree. Its exciting for me.
I am now waiting patiently for all my grades to be posted. I am nervous to find out how i did. My goal was to make straight A's. The summer session is HARD especially having a kid. Cramming 16 weeks into 8 weeks really does me 2 chapters a day in a class along with the SAME amount of work you would do in a 16 week coarse. They dont cut you any slack.

I managed, i made it and im excited to continue.

(More Excited to have a little break so i can spend time with my little girl. I have missed being home with her and playing with her)
