Baby has an infection

Leading Up To The Doctors:

The past couple of days have been exhausting and horribly stressful. Riley has had a fever the past couple of days...it was a low grade fever to begin with, and with all those teeth coming it it made sense (and still could have been from that at first) she got fussier and fussier, every time i changed her diaper i would try to wipe her clean and she would clench her body together... mommy didn't get the hint, i thought it was just cold and she was just being difficult.

Boy was i wrong, woke up in the middle of the night to Riley crying...when i picked her up she felt like she was on fire. I took her temp it was at 101.9. I didn't think much of it gave her some Tylenol to help with what i thought was teething put her in the bed with me and tried to go back to sleep. She woke up screaming every 45 minutes. Still i thought maybe she had an upset tummy, or a bad dream...

John took her the next morning for an hour or two so i could get some sleep, she finally fell asleep with him and he brought her back to the bed with me. I woke up and realized her body was waaaay hotter than it should have been.. I took the covers off of her thinking maybe she was just bundled up to much, knowing she already had a little fever. I went to change her diaper and her entire body started shaking... i knew then (from previous encounters) that her temp. was way to high... i took her temperature and it came in at 104.2. I yelled for john to start the car, got her dressed and myself dressed as fast as i could and called the doctor (we were out the door with in 15 minutes).

...but we had to shovel our way out first (this was part of the 15 minutes)

Finally we were able to get out of the driveway that was a thick sheet of ice..

Doctors Visit No.1

My poor baby was completely miserable, and i was doing all i could to hold back the tears...i just wanted to hold her and cry. ...but that wasn't going to fix her. The took a urine sample and sent us on our way... scared we took our baby home, there was nothing more we could do but wait till the next day for the results to come in.

i finally got a call back from the doctors office.... and what they had to say was "Riley has an enormous amount of bacteria in her urine, bring her in right away for more testing" ...Enormous... great. So feeling like the worst mother in the world, i got dressed got her dressed and took her back to the doctors.

Doctors Visit No. 2

HORRIBLE! Each visit just gets worse, We got back to the room and Riley immediately starts screaming and crying.... she knows at this point nothing good happens in those rooms. They had to insert a catheter this time. NOT FUN.. i was trying so hard not to cry with Riley, trying to fake a smile and calm your child down is the hardest thing in the entire world when all you want to do is hold them and kick the nurses in the face for them. (sorry nurses...momma wants to keep baby from bring hurt). It was absolutely horrible she screamed and cried...

...ohh and that look she gave me..it broke my heart.

But she got a special prize after it was all over with... The nurses gave her this teddy bear, which is almost as big as her (really close)

The nurses and doctors are always so sweet... I'm so glad i randomly picked this doctors office off of the sheet they gave me last minute in the hospital after having RJ. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to help take care of my baby girl.

we still have another visit to the doctors, she may have to have another catheter, and possibly an ultrasound on her kidneys depending on how bad things are... we will find out tomorrow.

I hope and pray that my little bug gets better and its not as bad as it seems at the moment. i wish it was me in her position instead.
