Pointing:
This is so much fun. I love that she points at everything she is trying to figure out... or to mommy or daddy or to what she wants. Very very cute!
Independent:
She is definitely a "do it myself" kinda gal. She gets really upset when you do something for her. She likes to experience the cause and effect first hand.
Hangin with the big kids:
Little miss is a party girl. after our trip to California Riley goes to bed at 11pm (her old 8pm) and wakes up around 10 or 11 am (which is an excellent change from the constant 7am wake up). I have been trying to get out of the house a little more...both Riley and I need to interact with others more than what we were doing in the past....so we go to the Common Market every night. The employees are friends and dont mind Riley running around, and plenty of friends hang out there so its a good way for Riley and I to get our social interaction with others in everyday.
Every day my little social butterfly spread her wings and welcomes more and more people into her heart. She truely has a big heart and a smile that can melt the world.
Learning:
Animals:
I have been trying to teach Riley the difference between animals and what sounds they make, we havent perfected it but about 90 percent of the time she will "preform" for you
She will distingush the difference between a lion and a tiger (if you ask her which one is which) and if you ask her "what sound does a lion make" she will Rawr at you.
If you ask her what sound a dog makes, she will bark or growl at you.
Colors:
We are still working on colors.
Books:
I read Riley 2 books a night and sometimes throughout the day if she is "reading" one on her own. I will let her look at it and "read" it and when she is done i pick the book back up and read it to her. At night i am trying to get into the habit of reading her a book so when she learns to read she can enjoy quiet time before bed and read to herself. We arent raising a T.V. kid., i do NOT want her to sit in front of the T.V. all day or have "shows" she wants to watch. There are plenty of other ways she can use her brain that will actually get her somewhere in life.
Manners:
we work hard on manners, i know she will not understand now...but someday she will and i want her to know right from wrong (just like any other mother) She responds well to the difference.
Instead of "No" we say "No Ma'am" and when she stops she gets a "Thank you" she responds so much better to that than the plan "No" or the raised voice. We are trying not to Yell at her or raise our voices and definitely no spanking. I need to work on my temper and the raising of the voice. Its hard but must be done.
Playdates:
Imaginon - Last Friday we went to Imaginon with Jessica and Logan, they had a good time. Riley is very interested in what all the other kids there were doing and if she could play with them all without them knocking her over she would, she really enjoys being "free" from the house.
Candice- Who knows what i would do without this girl. She adores Riley and enjoys playing with her. Riley spends the majority of the time we are at the Common Market with Candice giving mommy a little break...or at least 2 hands for a while. They always have a blast!
Mommy and Daddy- John and I went to Chic Fil A for lunch and after lunch we took Riley in the place center to let her "Play" she did more watching of the 3 year old and the 18 month old (Johns Friends Kids) She had a good time... she loves interacting with other children.
Fight Against The Sick Ones:
I am trying to keep Riley and I from getting sick without being stuck in the house, dont know if it is going to work well since no one else seems to have a baby sensor... we are trying hard though!
